Porcelain Veneers on Teeth in Charlottesville Area

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic treatment option offered by Dr. Daniel Bearley at Bearley Dental in Charlottesville. Veneers provide many long-term benefits that improve your smile, give you back your self-confidence, and restore proper form and appearance to your teeth. The process of having veneers put on your teeth is a simple procedure that can be completed in our office.

Porcelain Veneers Can Correct Many Imperfections

Porcelain veneers can restore a variety of different flaws and imperfections. They can correct the following:

  • small teeth
  • irregularly shaped teeth
  • cracked, broken, or chipped teeth
  • small to mid-size gaps
  • discolored teeth

These flaws can affect your smile and your teeth’ efficiency at breaking down the food you eat.

Preparing the Tooth/Teeth

In order for the porcelain veneers to be applied to your teeth, the smooth exterior must be roughened up a little. By etching the teeth or sanding away a portion of the enamel, the veneer, when bonded, will be able to adhere to the tooth seamlessly. Impressions of the prepared tooth are then taken. You will be fitted with temporary veneers till your permanent veneers are ready.

Creating the Veneer

The dentist will send the impressions to a dental lab to create the customized veneers. The veneer will be designed to match your natural teeth. Dental-grade porcelain will be used to create the shells to ensure that they stand up to constant use when it comes to eating or chewing.

Applying the Veneer to the Tooth

Once the veneers are ready, you will return to have them applied to the teeth; your dentist will check it for size and fit and then bond it to the front of your tooth using a special light. He will provide you with a list of aftercare instructions you must follow to properly care for your new veneers.
